Every Day Magic
I hope this letter is finding you well.
After everything that has happened this year, I can admit that I have felt a bit more sad than usual.
Can you say the same?
I feel like everything has been so heavy and unpredictable.
I’ve found that the more and more I scroll through Facebook or Instagram, it’s politics or sickness or disaster. It’s traumatizing really.
To be living in constant fear. Literally not knowing what the future holds at any given moment.
Everything can change so quickly, so drastically.
And sometimes I get so caught up in this negative loop that I forget we are literally flying around in space on a special rock that is somehow made just for us.
Sometimes I forget about every day magic.
I forget about the little things that bring me joy.
Whether it’s escaping this reality and reading a fiction book, or totally immersing myself in a movie.
Or making a delicious meal from scratch—
and not always healthy.
Because life is too short to eat healthy all the time.
The little things throughout the day are what I’ve been focusing on lately.
The smell of a fresh pot of coffee, or the color of the sky at sunset.
FaceTiming a friend to catch up.
Or taking a really nice long shower, blasting the music, singing and dancing like no ones around.
I’ve come to the realization that we have to make time for those little pockets of happiness.
Because at the end of the day. What’s all this really for?
Enjoy as many little moments of your life as you can.
While things may not be the best circumstances right now for any of us, we are in charge of our happiness.
Practice finding joy in your every day moments.
Be gentle with yourself. & hang in there.
This year is almost over.
We’ll get through this together.
sending you lots of love,
Mariyah
